From October 6–10, 2025, the RMUTL GreenEdAsia members (Rajamangala University of Technology Lanna), under the Erasmus program as part of the project GreenEdAsia – Learning for Sustainable Future: Higher Education for Green Transition in Southeast Asia, participated in the Teacher Training Week activity at Häme University of Applied Sciences (HAMK), Hämeenlinna, Finland.

The project participants included Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pracha Yuenyongkul, Faculty of Engineering, Project Leader; Asst. Prof. Dr. Supornphan Konchiab; Asst. Prof. Dr. Ronnachart Munsin; Ms. Sumana Sorathiwa; Ms. Tulaya Daroon; and Dr. Tarapong Karnjanaparichat.

The training participants included faculty members from Rajamangala University of Technology Lanna (RMUTL), Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi (RMUTT), members of the GreenEdAsia Thailand Committee, as well as faculty members from Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education (HCMUTE) and Dong Thap University (DThU), who are members of the GreenEdAsia Vietnam Committee. They engaged in sharing and exchanging knowledge on approaches to education for sustainability through practical learning activities and various instructional design workshops.

The training activities included an orientation session and the study of learning theories that serve as the foundation for developing future competencies, such as the Socio-constructivist Learning Theory. Participants also explored the design of learning activities based on Problem-Based Learning (PBL), Transdisciplinary Learning, DIANA, and the Five-Stage Online Scaffolding model. The program also featured a visit to Häme University of Applied Sciences (HAMK) to experience its learning environment, which emphasizes SmartBio, SmartBuilt, and SmartEdu initiatives. Participants learned about Dialogical Methods and Student-Centered Teaching Methods, visited the Biochar Carbon Removal company and the Aulanko Nature Park, and toured the robotic barn at HAMK Mustiala Campus. They also studied Design-Based Learning (DBL) and the Circular Economy concept at HAMK Forssa Campus. Moreover, a Design-Based Education (DBE) workshop was conducted, where participants practiced using learning design tools such as the Inno Competence Flower, Empathy Map, and Crazy Eight. Each team presented its prototype project outcomes, followed by a summary session and future action planning. Rajamangala University of Technology Lanna (RMUTL) is scheduled to host the next workshop titled “Collaborative Learning Ecosystem with Industry and Academia” from April 20–24, 2026.

This activity reflects the collaborative learning among university networks in Southeast Asia and leading universities in Europe, aimed at developing innovative education that supports the transition toward sustainability, while also inspiring faculty members and students for the future.
